Clubhouse Before and After School Care at SAMBICA

Projects and Needs
 

Over the last few years many of SAMBICA’s facilities have been remodeled and repaired thanks to the generous hearts of everyone who contributed. However, there are still more projects to be done this year. Would you help us continue the effort toward a revitalized SAMBICA? The following projects are slated for the coming year and will depend on fundraising and labor donations.

 

2007-2008 SAMBICA Projects
 

Clubhouse: Install new carpeting, new storage furniture, new exterior door, replace exterior siding and other improvements.

Expected Costs: $25,000     Amount Raised: $25,000

 

Playground: Install a play set outside of Grace, excavate play area, build retaining walls, and landscape play area.

Expected Costs: 50,000.00     Amount Raised: $50,000

 

Basketball Court: Level and repave the basketball court, and install new basketball hoops.

Expected Costs: $48,000     Amount Raised: $21,000

 

Kitchen: Purchase new kitchen appliances including a new gas range and ovens.

Expected Costs: $15,000.00     Amount Raised: $15,500

 
 

 
Completed Projects
 
Thank you for your support and contributions which enabled us to make so many positive changes around camp in the past few years. The following information shares our recent success in remodeling SAMBICA!
 

2006-2007 SAMBICA Projects

 

Remodel Jepson Forum Meeting Rooms

A $40,000 grant from the JPW Foundation provided a complete interior remodel of the two Jepson Forum meeting rooms. Improvements include: new pine ceiling, wainscoting, and flooring. The fireplace and entry way was be redone with river rock. Fresh paint, light fixtures, and furniture were added to complete the pine log theme of the meeting room. The lower Forum amphitheater received new carpet, vinyl flooring on the stage, the windows and doors received new cedar trim, the window blinds were replaced, and new light fixtures with ceiling fans are being installed. Contributions from Overlake Electric, The Kritsonis Group - Windermere, and other friends of SAMBICA made this transformation possible.

 

Upgrade Summer Camp Equipment
Improvements were made to the archery range, including new netting, signage, and new bows and arrows. New inflatable field games were purchased. Kid appropriate, two person kayaks were purchased with support from the Fred Meyer Foundation.
  

Repairs to SAMBICA’s Dock and Waterfront Bathrooms and Grounds

Repairs were made to SAMBICA’s dock to make it safer for the boats. The Beach House bathrooms were refurbished with new fixtures and flooring. 

 

2005-2006

 

Dining Hall

A $20,000.00 grant from the Joshua P. Williams Foundation provided new carpet, counters, flooring, lighting and cabinets.
 
$7,500.00 donated through families, individuals and the SAMBICA Board provided new chairs to complete the Dining Hall project.          

 

Forum Sleeping Rooms

$16,000.00 donated through families, individuals and the SAMBICA Board made it possible to add new flooring, beds and lighting to all five sleeping rooms in the Forum.

Staff Lounge

Mobile Missionary Assistance Partners provided SAMBICA with three weeks of volunteer labor to reside, replaced windows and a door, painted, and made interior changes to the summer Staff Lounge.
 
Waterfront
The waterfront has seen several improvements this year including: ten picnic tables built and donated by a local high school woodshop class, a refinished slide and diving board, dock repairs, and the purchase of the waterfront toy the Iceberg.
 

 

2004-2005

 

Joshua Lodge

A $14,000.00 grant from the Joshua P. Williams Foundation provided new carpeting, beds, paint, wood for finish trim and cabinets.
           
Craftsman labor donation from Shirey Construction provided three days of interior finish carpentry for the hallway and bedrooms.
 
Mobile Missionary Assistance Partners offered three weeks of volunteer labor to complete finish work, ceiling tile repairs, exterior siding, beams, and painting.

 

Bathroom Remodels

Mobile Missionary Assistance Partners provided three weeks of volunteer labor to paint, redo interior stalls, make plumbing repairs, fix and replace floors, and clean up six major bathrooms on camp.
